I asked the members of the Bar to meet me to-day in
order to consider the proposals which have been made for the
fusion of the two branches of the legal profession and for an increase in the jurisdiction of the Summary Court. the following attended as deputies for the purpose of reporting the unanimous
views of the Bar as expressed at the meeting at Mr. Pollock e
Chambers hereinafter referred to:-

Dr. F. T. Cheng.
The Hon. Mr. E. H. Sharp, K.C., was unavoidably prevented from
being present by an attack of fever.

The views expressed at the meeting are the unanimous
viewe of all the nine members of the Bar who are et present in
Hongkong, namely:-

such nine members having previously unanimously expressed such
views at a meeting held at the * Chambers of the Hon. Mr. B. E.
Pollock, K.0., to consider the matter. Mr. F.C.Jenkin being out
of the Colony, it has not been possible to ascertain his views.
The Bar are opposed to the fusion of the two branches.
